Project Goals

The goal of this project is to provide free topographic map coverage of entire Canadian landmass in a format compatible with Magellan eXplorist, Triton, and Crossover GPS units. This goal will be realized through the publication of maps in two formats:

(1) Vector (.imi) Format: These maps are being generated in 1:50,000 scale and utilizing the CANVEC, CDEM and select layers from the NTDB datasets from Natural Resources Canada. In addition to these, our existing collection of NTDB 1:50 and 1:250,000 scale vector maps these will be replacing will continue to be available until significant 1:50,000 scale coverage is available.

(2) Raster (.rmp) Format: - These maps are being generated in 1:50,000 scale utilizing the TOPORAMA dataset available from Natural Resources Canada and and are compatible with the Triton series.
